Refactoring Shock Can Kill PartII, the Reddit Effect

Google Analytics tally of a "hot" reddit submission

AFTER PROFUSELY SWEATING IN HESITATION for a good 5 minutes I pressed the "submit" button... The concept is as old as internet forums : Cut Und Paste somebody else's post, change a few words and TADAA... you have a parody! I even created an animated gif for this practice at the beginning of the century, Behold the Thread ParrotZoriZi0r.gif :

Yes, it was funny at the time, back before my walking cane was swallowed up in cobwebs. If you have randomly landed on this page, and can't be arsed to click those right handside links, This was posted at Reddit and was zealously upmodded, despite cries of plagiarism etc. (see comments)... As I read the article, I couldn't stop my mind from drawing parallels to an extremely stressful project (which I'm still suffering from at time of writing). So, 15 minutes later this and this were born!

I'VE SEEN A FEW BLOG POSTS ABOUT THE REDDIT/SLASHDOT/DIGG EFFECT reciting the "hits" that various submissions receive, so, as I saw my effort climb up the table I decided to add a google analytics tag to the html page and check out the damage... For inexplicaple reasons I thought I would share this with anyone random enough to reach this page...

DAY 1

DAY 2

DAY 3

all in all over 10,000 hits for 15 minutes effort w00t??!!11

Interestingly enough the submission had a lifetime of exactly 3 days.

The end.

oh yeah, also over 300 people clicked on the ancient "5 year old kids game" link :)
a couple even made it into the top 50!
